Model =NevaehLleh
Snake handler Jeneva

A little "healthy competition" is not always natural.

Please read my journal on this here [link]

Please also note that the mouse was humanely killed prior to its feeding, and that this falls under the (permitted) "real corpses" section of dA rules. Snakes and mice alike were handled humanely by trained professionals.

Thank you! It took a lot of discussion between myself, the model, and the handler before we came up with a way to shoot this safely.

The only part she was unsure about was putting a dead mouse in her mouth, but once I said we could sterilize the tail first she was fine with it. We did not, however, let the snake strike at her face, but rather placed the tail after she'd started to swallow.

ahahaha cute concept!
my snake would be piiiissssed if i touched her while eating. she gets bitchy if i try to move her or the mouse and gives me the evil eye before continuing with her meal lol!
its not such a good idea to handle a snake while eating though :[ they can get stressed! :[
but i still LOVE the picture :]]]

The breeder had a large number of snakes and we only handled the ones who were totally cool about it. This particular snake was about as fussy as a stuffed animal once the mouse was in her mouth.

Corns are not a blink-and-you'll-miss-it sort of eaters. They're more... patrician. Slow, conversational, sort of meandering.

I'm not sure I'd put the tail of a live mouse in my mouth, much less a dead one...But this is a very cool shot!

I'd be much more inclined to have a dead mouse's tail between my teeth than a live one's. Dead mice can be sterilized.

Incredible concept.. And props to the model for muscling past the gag reflex with a dead mouse tail in her teeth. Couldn't get me to do that.

That was the only thing I asked her to do which I wasn't sure if she'd be ok with. The mouse was very freshly dead, though--it's not like it was old and gross.

Is that a anery motley? S/He's lovely. I love the picture, but I don't know if handling while feeding is such a good idea...

Thank you. She is Anery, but not motley. I've had her for 9 or so years now, and yes... I would almost always recommend against feeding and handling at the same time...

=NevaehLleh and I both have a lot of experience dealing with snakes, and we both know her personality well enough to do what was necessary to make the situation safe for both snake and model.

It was a joke, cause of (potential) people bitching about it killing the mouse etc.

Humour just doesnt translate across the net sometimes, does it
